All Breed Dog Shows

In September the Club joins with other clubs in the area to hold 3 AKC all-breed conformation and obedience shows. This event brings in people in from all corners of the US and Canada. The financial impact to the community helps our area in many ways, from the merchants that furnish supplies to the hotels that supply the rooms for the visitors and their dogs.

Exhibitors display their AKC registered dogs of all shapes and sizes. These shows are a good place to come and see many different breeds, perhaps finding the one that is right for you.

Obedience Trials

Obedience fun matches and trials test the skills that the handler and dog have mastered. It's wonderful to have a dog that is obedient and “comes when called” and it's fun when one can put those skills to work in the competition ring and earn an AKC title on your canine friend.

Agility Trials

Agility tests the handler and his partner over and through obstacles that the team has learned to negotiate. Tunnels, teeter-totter, jumps, dog walk to name a few, are fun for you and dog. The dog gains a great deal of confidence and trust and in turn the handler learns just what his companion is capable of. We have classes for the public and training equipment at a convenient location available for members. The HMKC holds Agility trials twice yearly. Check the Agility page for more information.
